Cannabis or Marijuana is a Class C drug that is either supplied as a black or brown solid lump (hash or resin) or in plant form (weed, grass, skunk). Skunk is 2-3 times stronger than other forms of cannabis.
Cannabis is usually mixed with tobacco or smoked neat in rolled cigarettes or on pipes. It can also be used in cooking and drunk as a tea.

THE LAW
Cannabis is controlled under Class C of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Maximum jail sentence for possession down from 5 year to 2 years. Maximum jail sentence for supply will remain at 14 years (maximum sentence for Class C drugs has been raised from 5 to 14 years).
