Ecstasy is an illegally manufactured drug that comes in tablet or capsule form. Its appearance varies widely and is supplied in various colours and designs and can be taken orally, smoked or injected when liquefied.

THE LAW
Ecstasy is controlled as a Class A drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act. It is illegal to be in possession of or supply. It cannot be prescribed by doctors. The maximum penalties for possession of ecstasy is 7 years imprisonment plus a fine and for supply is life imprisonment plus a fine.
